Welcome to Phoenix Class page
In our English lessons, we will be looking at adventure stories, settings and characters. We will be focusing on the understanding of texts and answering questions on them. We will have GPS (grammar, punctuation and spelling) daily and the children will be expected to use this within their daily work.
Reading is an important skill, one which the children use everyday. Therefore, it is a major focus within our teaching. Each child will be heard reading at least once a week, either in our English lessons or guided reading sessions. Reading books should be taken home every night with the expectation that the children read for at least 15 minutes at least five times a week.
This term we will be focusing on how to explain our answers to questions. We will be looking at reasoning and using and applying the skills that we have learnt.
In science we will be studying evolution and inheritence.
During our topic lessons the children will be learning about the World War 2, how it began and the effects that it had on the entire world.
We will be visiting Dover Castle to about it's role in the war.
Christianity is the religion that we will be learning about over the next two terms, specifically symbols, religious expression and of course Easter.
PE will be on a Wednesday, so please make sure that your children have their kits in school on this day. Please check the uniform policy for the correct items of kit.
Homework will be given out on a Monday with the expectation that it will be returned the following Monday. It will consist of a piece of maths, English and spellings.
Weekly timetables will be uploaded to the website. These will contain the lessons and learning objectives for the week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to come and speak to me.
