World Book Day
Thursday 5 March 2020
This year we will be celebrating Superheroes. For example comic strips and stories such as Supertato. As in previous years we will be asking the children (and staff) to dress up. This can be any character and we ask, if possible to bring the book in with them too! In previous years there have been some fantastic costumes and we are looking forward to seeing this year's costumes!
* Extreme Reading - we want photographs of children reading in the weirdest and wackiest places they can think of (be careful though!). For example how about reading in a tree? What about sharing a book with a parent in the wardrobe? Have you ever read under the bed? The stranger, the better!
Sponsored Reading Challenges - more information to follow
Design a new book cover - It can be a book that already exists or a brand new one from the children's imagination. It can be drawn, painted, collaged or even done on the computer. The choice is theirs!
Book Fair - On Thursday 5 March we have secured a book fair from Usborne books to come in. Working in partnership with Stepping Stones Nursery, children will be given the opportunity to browse the book fair at times throughout the day. It will then be open for parents from 2.30pm and continue after school. All money raised will then be used to purchase new books to help support our reading programme Accelerated Reader.
Book Voucher - On the week of World Book day, your child will be given a voucher that they can use to buy special World Book day books, or use them as £1 off any other books. These vouchers can be spent in any participating store (see voucher for details).
