The Sports Premium is an allocation of additional funding from the Government, provided to schools to help develop sports provision and support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include children who are entitled to free school meals, those looked after by the local authority and the children of armed forces personnel.
All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how this is being used.
This year we are focusing on coaching and involving children in the enjoyment of sport. Weight analysis shows our children put on more weight than we would like during their time in school. (According to reception and Year 6 weight program) So a large proportion of our funding is going on ensuring that our children are as active as possible and learn to enjoy sport.
We do this through;
- Additional PE sessions which are lead by a professional, Andy Booker, where there is a progression from skills to games.
- Dance sessions run weekly with the children, to increase sport within our curriculum.
- After school clubs, which are run by qualified coaches to ensure our children are active.
- Lunchtime activities throughout the week run by TSC, to ensure our children have structured sport throughout the day.
We also employ Andy on a Thursday morning where he uses sport to improve well being.
This is how we have used the funding so far and the impact it has had.
